It’s been the home to Salvation Army activities since the 1920s.

The change of direction starts with Capt. Sylvan Young,  whom has allowed the Covellite Film Festival to show select screenings in it’s three story brick and sandstone block building was built in 1923.

Motherlode Theater

Located in Historic Uptown Butte, one of the America’s largest registered national historic landmark districts, the Mother Lode Theatre is Butte’s showplace and place for shows. Built as the Temple Theatre in 1923, the Mother Lode has emerged, after a $4 million dollar renovation, as an opulent and fully equipped performing arts center. The Mother Lode, with its superior sight lines and acoustics, is also a favorite venue for conventions and conferences.

The Covellite is a 225 seat theater with a small lounge/ reception area on the lower level. The 600 square foot stage will accommodate a variety of events such as: films & movies, theater acts, concerts, recitals, weddings, corporate events, and more. Smaller events can use the lower level 300 square foot stage or the smaller projector for small performances, puppet shows, slide shows, and small meetings.

The Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives was established in 1981 by ordinance to maintain the non-current records of the city-county of Butte-Silver Bow. Given the significant industrial, political, and social history of Butte in the American West, the government records and archival holdings are in great demand by scholars, authors, and genealogists.

Shot in Montana, A blockbuster adventure through the Treasure State’s cinematic history, by Brian D’Ambrosio, author of the book, Shot in Montana – 11AM

From megahits with the biggest Hollywood stars to acclaimed independent films and forgettable flops, nearly a hundred movies have been made, in whole or in part, in Montana, and for the first time this treasure trove of filmmaking has been thoroughly researched and documented. Montana author Brian D’Ambrosio (Warrior in the Ring) describes every movie, including the actors, directors, and shooting locations, and reveals fascinating stories and incidents that took place behind the cameras.

Brian D’Ambrosio is the author of more than 10 books and his articles have been published in local, regional, and national publications. D’Ambrosio’s favorite journalistic topics or subjects: history, music, architecture, biography, boxing, NHL tough guys, photography, forgotten inventors, and obscure American poets and authors.

Bio

Nina Alviar is a Makeup Artist working in film, video and television. She has over ten years of experience from Los Angeles, Portland, and Seattle and has worked continuously in Montana for the last two years. On features, shorts, commercials, and webseries and television episodes, Nina has brought expertise in all aspects of Make Up – from basic camera-ready, to character development and special effects – to the Montana film industry.  She believes that striving to bring the Director’s vision to life is the most crucial aspect of the job, and the teamwork and collaboration that ensues from that relationship creates the magic that is always a step beyond expectations.

With an explosion of scripted and non-scripted content available for viewers, a landscape that offers DIY models, and a distribution landscape that is going through a paradigm shift, Jhod Cardinal of Upstream Flix Inc. walks through strategies and options used to help make sure your film has a fighting chance when released into the marketplace.

Bio

Jhod has financed, sold, and distributed films for nearly fifteen years. His International Sales and Distribution experience includes all major film markets including Marche Du Film – Cannes, Filmart, AFM, MIPTV, TIFF, NATPE. In 2009 he founded Upstream Flix, which creates progressive sales opportunities that balances both traditional broadcast models with new digital platforms.

The Art of Post Production Workflow, with Trevor Cable and Brian Hathaway – 11AM

With the increased affordability of editing software and a wide array of online tutorials, digital editing is more accessible than ever before. However, proficiency with Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere, or Final Cut Pro is not what distinguishes a professional edit from an amateur one. Learn to make the decisions in pre production that will put make your job easier when it comes to  post-production.

Bio

Trevor Cable is the Lead Media Engineer and Editorial Manager at Laika Inc. Trevor has worked on Oscar Nominated films Coraline, ParaNorman, and The Boxtrolls, and has over 20 years of experience in the world of post production, from animation to live action.

Brian Hathaway hails from the East Coast with 20 years experience in the entertainment industry. He brings his heart and soul to every project. Besides his creativity as an editor, he has a deep technical knowledge valuable to any and all types of projects. On top of being a working professional in the industry, he makes the time to work in the land of academia, guiding young filmmakers so they too can bring their dreams to fruition. He currently resides in Los Angeles.

Our offices are currently under renovations but we will be unveiling a whole slew of work space studios in the near future.

The space will feature editing bays, FX studios, sound-rooms, and 2 green screen rooms. We will host local businesses on the street level units as well.

Our future headquarters will also include a live in residency program.
